First Gray Lab SfN poster!

Jon presents his poster “Postsynaptic serine racemase regulates NMDA receptors” at this year’s Society for Neuroscience (SfN) meeting in Washington, DC. His poster drew a good audience including multiple luminaries in the field (e.g. Jon Johnson, U Pitt, seen here). Congrats Jon for a job well done!

John Gray awarded a Whitehall Foundation Grant

The Whitehall Foundation graciously funded our project proposal entitled “The Fundamental Role of NMDA Receptor Co-agonism” that will attempt to address two fundamental properties of the NMDA receptor: 1) why do NMDA receptors require two chemical signals, glutamate and glycine, for
activation? And 2) how can NMDA receptors regulate both the strengthening and weakening of synapses during learning and memory?

The Whitehall Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation exclusively dedicated to assisting basic science research in neurobiology. I am extremely grateful to have this proposal funded and am looking forward to getting the project underway!

Congratulations Jon! Representing UC Davis in China

Congratulations to Jon Wong who was just selected to represent the UC Davis College of Biological Sciences at the International Student Workshop in Beijing, China in October!  This is a collaborative program between UC Davis, the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) in Japan, and the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.  This is a great opportunity for Jon and well-deserved.

2017 Lab Photo

One of the rare moments everyone is in the lab at the same time!
No, we didn’t plan to all wear flannel, and no, I don’t have an abnormally long left arm.
